Brushes
This tutorial is to show basic function of
the brushes in Amorphium
The Brush Tools
There are 5 brush tools, Brush, Smudge, Sphere,
Normal, Smooth
They behave different as they carve or pull.
The Brush, pushes or pulls the polygons perpendicular
to the view plane. So if you
carve on the edge of an object it will dig a
hole on the front side and extrude the back side.
The Sphere Brush, pushes or pulls the polygons
towards the center.
The Normal Brush, pushes or pulls straight into
the surface.
The Smudge, pushes the polygons towards the
direction your moving.
The Smooth, smoothes out the polygons.
Brush Shapes
There are 26 brush shapes to choose from.
They do react differently to the function you
doing. Like for example you might want
to select one of the flat types for smoothing
out rough spots.
Brush Modifiers
These are used to set the characteristics of
the brush.
Pressure, set the amount of pressure the brush
pulls or pushes. There is a number indicator
that show the negative or positive percent of
pressure to be applied.
Radius, adjust the size of the brush. A circle
will appear in the center of the work space which shows the size.
Flux, controls the amount of pressure, paint
or mask that flows from the brush.
Brush Modes
1. Front, only affects the side your seeing
in the work space.
2. Both sides, it pushes in on the side your
seeing and pulls out on the opposite side
or pulls out on the side you see and pushes
in on the opposite side.
3. Mirror, does the same thing to both side
as you work. So if your looking at the right view and carving
the same thing is happening to the left side
view. Or the front and back, top and bottom.
Symmetry
There are 12 symmetry to choose from.
They let you do multiple cuts with one stroke,
depending on which one you choose.
The type symmetry tool you choose will be reflected
in the symmetry window.
Tilt
Lets you set the direction the brush digs in,
pulls out or applies paint and mask.
The action of the brush will spread out wider
in the direction of the tilt.
These brushes and setting are mostly used in Tools
& Distorts, but can be used in Task and Morph too.
In mask they can be used to paint mask on or off. In
HeightShop they can be used to paint the
bump map on. In Paint & Optics they can be used
to apply paint. And in Texture they can be used for liquifying the texture.
