Distorts

The purpose of this tutorial is to explain the basic function of the distort tools

There are 24 distort tools in Amorphium.
I'm just going to cover the fundamentals on their functions.
First some work in 3D and some in 2D, in other words some are only applied to the side or view
you are looking at (2D), others are applied to the whole object (3D).
All but rotation has a number indicator to show the percentage being applied.

Some work in 4 directions, others in 2 directions and some only in 1 direction.
In other words some go negative and positive. Other only go positive.
The four direction tools are indicated by a 4 arrow cross bar cursor.
The two and one direction tools are indicated by a 2 arrow bar cursor.
All distorts respond to mask except rotate, it rotates
the object whether the whole or part of the object is masked.
To use these tools click hold and drag.

This list will tell you a little about each one.

1. Rotate, 3D, works in 4 directions, no number indicator.
It rotates the object on the X and Y axes.
Unlike the rotate view tool, rotate distort is reflected in all views and work spaces including composer.
Locking axes effects rotate distort.

2. Bank, 3D, works in 2 directions, negative and positive, number indicator.
It banks or rotates the object on the Z axes.
Just like rotate distort it is reflected in all views and work spaces including composer.
Locking axes does not effect rotate distort.

3. Scale, 3D, works in 2 directions, negative and positive, number indicator.
Scales the object (larger or smaller)

4. Stretch, 2D, works in 4 directions, negative and positive, 2 number indicator one for vertical one for horizontal.
Stretches or shrinks the object side to side and up and down.

5. Center, 3D, works in 1 directions, positive, number indicator.
centers to the middle of the work space.

6. Undo, 3D, works in 1 directions, positive, number indicator.
Undoes last command or a percentage of last command.

7. Noise, 3D, works in 1 directions,positive, number indicator.
Adds bumps or rough's up the object.

8. Smooth, 3D, works in 1 directions,positive, number indicator.
Smooth out the rough areas and edges, the opposite of Noise.

9. Waves, 3D, works in 2 directions, negative and positive, number indicator.
Puts a number of waves or ridges on the object.

10. Tsunami, 3D, works in 2 directions, negative and positive, number indicator.
Same as wave but larger and fewer wave or ridges.

11. Equalize, 3D, works in 1 directions, positive, number indicator.
Pulls polygons towards center to form a sphere.

12. Contrast, 3D, works in 1 directions, positive, number indicator.
Pulls polygons on the edges outward while creating a sphere in the center.
Will not work on a perfect sphere because there are no edges.

13. Bottle, 3D, works in 2 directions, negative and positive, number indicator.
Shrinks or budges the top of the object symmetrically.( which ever end is at the top of the work space )

14. Bulge, 3D, works in 2 directions, negative and positive, number indicator.
Budges or shrinks the object symmetrically.

15. Button, 3D, works in 2 directions, negative and positive, number indicator.
Puts a bulge or indentation in the center of the object. This distortion effects the front and back of whatever
view your in. In other words if you were in top view it would effect the top and bottom of the object.

16. Belly, 3D, works in 2 directions, negative and positive, number indicator.
Shrinks or budges the center of the object.

17. Flatten, 2D, works in 1 directions, positive, number indicator.
Flatten's the side of the object facing you.

18. Spikes, 3D, works in 2 directions, negative and positive, number indicator.
Puts spikes or holes symmetrically around the object.

19. Shear, 3D, works in 2 directions, negative and positive, number indicator.
Stretches the object perpendicularly.

20. Bend, 3D, works in 2 directions, negative and positive, number indicator.
Bends the object up to 180%. Works differently according to what view your in.

21. Radial Shear, 3D, works in 2 directions, negative and positive, number indicator.
Shears the center of the object horizontally.

22. Taper, 3D, works in 2 directions, negative and positive, number indicator.
Tapers the top of the object. ( which ever end is at the top of the work space )

23. Twist, 3D, works in 2 directions, negative and positive, number indicator.
Twist the object on the Y axes. The edges or out side polygons are effected more then the center
which give it the twisted effect.

24. Twirl, 3D, works in 2 directions, negative and positive, number indicator.
Twist the object on the Z axes. Like twist the edges or outside polygons are effected more then the center
which give it the twirl effect.
