HeightShop

The purpose of this tutorial is to explain the HeightShop controls.


HeightShop is a workspace that let you load a gray scale or black & white or even a colored picture
to uses as a bump or height map.

These are the tools in HeightShop



The HeightShop window is where you load the image to be used
select open to locate the image on your computer. Remove, removes the image from the HeightShop window.



These are the mapping options
select one by clicking on it.


The top one is rectangular, it maps in 2D or just the view in the work space is affected.
If your in front view then only the front of the object is affected.

The middle one is cylindrical, it maps around the object, which ever end of the object
is at the top and bottom of the work space
are not affected.

The bottom one is spherical, it maps around the whole object all sides are affected.


These are the channel options
to select one or more place a check in it's box.


Alpha, will apply all the transparency information from the image to the object.
Red, will apply all the red channel information from the image to the object.
Green, will apply all the green channel information from the image to the object.
Blue, will apply all the blue channel information from the image to the object.
You can select one, two, three, or all four in any order you want, but at least one has to be selected.


FX settings


You can adjust the Brightness and contrast by right clicking on the word hold down
and drag, left for negative, or right for positive. You will see the change to the image in the HeightShop window.
A number indicator will read out the percentage in the upper right side.



To apply, click on apply hold down
and drag, left for negative, or right for positive.
Again a number indicator will read out the percentage in the upper right side.



You can also use the different brush shapes along with brush mode, symmetry, tilt, pressure, radius and flux setting
to apply the height or bump map.
