Paint & Optics
The purpose of this tutorial is to explain
the Paint & Optics controls and menus.
There are 2 surface material layers in Amorphium.
The paint layer and the texture layer.
Paint effects the paint layer, Optics effect
both layers.
These are the tools in Paint & Optics.
These are the color swatch when you run your
cursor over them, the cursor turns
into a eye drop color picker. Your cursor does
this over the color windows to.
The top is the basic color swatch, right click
your mouse on it and that color goes into the color window.
Or you can hold down the mouse button and drag
until you see the desired color in the color window.
The bottom is a more advanced color swatch,
it has some preset color charts.
You can customize this color swatch by placing
your cursor over the box you want to change.
Then hold down the Alt key (option for Mac)
and click the mouse button. The current color
in the color window will replace the color there.
after customizing you have the option to save
it to your hard drive then open it latter.
You can also reset it to the default.
You can access another color swatch by clicking
and holding down on the color window.
Then you can drag the eye dropper down to the work
space to select a color off the object if you need to.
This is the color window and color wheel, the
current color to be painted or used appears in this window.
Clicking on the color wheel brings up the custom
color maker. Here you can make custom colors and palates.
This is the paint object switch, enabling it
tells Amorphium that the object in the work space is to be painted.
This is the paint bucket using it fills the
whole object or the
unmasked portions of the object in the work space.
You can also use the different brush types and
shapes to apply paint. All the brush adjustment tools work in Paint &
Optics.

There is also a pull down menu ( white triangle)
to apply some FX effects.
Using these will apply the current color in
the color window and the selected FX to the whole object or the
unmasked portions of the object in the work space
Here are the optic setting for Amorphium. They
work on the default color, painted colors and textures too.
Their setting's are reflected in all work spaces
except Mask and BioSphere. Mask does not effect these setting.
Each individual object can have it's own optic
setting.
To adjust the diffuse, specular and ambient setting,
click on the green button and hold the mouse button.
Drag right to increase and left to decrees settings.
A number indicator will pop up on the upper right side.
To adjust the diffuse, specular and ambient
colors, click on the color window to brings up the color swatch.
Clicking on the color wheel will brings up the custom
color maker.
Definitions
Diffuse : is light that is evenly reflected
from an object's surface, visible regardless of the angled it is viewed.
Diffuse color determines how the object responds
to light.
Specular : the highlight of the object, highlights
are formed from the direction the lights are shining on it.
Ambient : Light that has no point of origin or specific
direction.
There is also a pull down menu ( white triangle
) that gives some shadow options and lets you save or open
optics setting. Also you can copy the
current optic setting then paste them to another object.
