Tools Workspace

The Tools Workspace is where sculpting with brushes occurs. In the 3D realm, Tools is about as close to virtual real sculpting that there is. This workspace is so much like sculpting clay or other materials, that even a potters wheel can be used in Amorphium ( The Potter's Wheel is not discussed in this tutorial )

The term ( Tracking ) is used in this tutorial to describe the way a brush follows the contour of an object.

There are eight brushes which can be used to sculpt objects. Each one has it's own unique way of tracking or deforming objects. They all use the Brush Palette to fine tune their shape and properties.

The Brushes

Brush Tool Brush: Standard brush, it's tracking is head on, it's deforming action is push/pull.

Smooth Brush Smooth: Tracking is head on, it's deforming action smoothes out rough areas or edges. For heavy smoothing action use a rounded shape with this brush.

Smudge Brush Smudge: Tracking is head on, deforming action smudging or heavy smear, like pressing a finger or thumb into a soft substance.

Magnet Brush Magnet: Tracking is head on, deforming action pulls the selected area in the direction the cursor is moved. This brush's behavior is different in the fact that it is only applied to the polygon in the area that is selected when it's first activated. Every time the mouse is clicked activates a new area. Also the ( In ) direction pulls the selected area the same direction the brush is maneuvered. The ( Out ) direction pulls the polygons the opposite direction the brush is maneuvered.

Pinch Brush Pinch: Tracking is head on, deforming action pulls the polygons together in a pinching like manner. The in/out direction setting make little difference with this brush.

Cylindric Brush Cylindric: Tracks the object as though it's a cylinder, with push/pull deforming action.

Spheric Brush Spheric: Tracks the object as though it's a sphere, with push/pull deforming action.

Spheric Cube ( After ) Spheric Cylinder ( After ) Spheric Sphere ( After )

Normal Brush Normal: The name can be deceiving, this brush is anything but normal. It is called the normal brush because it's tracking always faces the normal ( face ) of the polygons. So basically it will always follow the contour of the object with push/pull deforming action.

To draw a strait line with any brush tool in Amorphium, hold the shift key then click and hold down to define the starting point. Then whatever area the brush is moved to and the button released defines the end point. After the button is released Amorphium calculates and draws the line.
Hold shift key, click, hold button

Move cursor to end point and release
